Prices change; re-check before you buy. Platform fees only. Every platform here that takes card payments does so through a processor such as Stripe, whose US standard rate is 2.9% + $0.30, and that is charged on top unless a vendor states its rate is all-inclusive.

Two things in that table are worth pulling out. Circle’s entry price of $89 doesn’t include email; the Email Hub is priced by contact count and starts at $99 a month at 10,000 contacts. And Mighty publishes an annual price for its entry plan only, so the annual figures for its two higher tiers can’t be compared to anything.

Mighty Networks

What it does well. Mighty is the most complete creator platform of the four. Courses, cohorts, live events, a branded mobile app on the higher tiers, and unlimited members on every plan. If your product is knowledge and you’re selling access to it, this is a serious tool and the app experience is genuinely good.

Pricing. Launch $79 a month or $950 a year, with 3 hosts and 10 moderators, 2% transaction fee. Scale $179 a month, 5 hosts and 15 moderators, 1%. Growth $354 a month, 10 hosts and 100 moderators, 0.5%. Mighty Pro is custom. The 14 day trial runs on the Growth plan and doesn’t require a card.

Where it stops being the right fit. Unlimited members sounds generous, and it’s, until you notice that a 60 member booster club and a 6,000 member association pay the same $79. Membership organizations are usually small and their budget scales with dues, not with headcount, so a flat creator price lands hard at the small end.

The deeper mismatch is that Mighty counts hosts and moderators, not admins. A volunteer board where the treasurer, the secretary, the events chair and the membership chair all need real access is a different shape from one creator plus a couple of moderators.

Circle

What it does well. Circle has the best discussion experience in this group. Spaces, threads, live rooms and a clean interface that people actually enjoy using. For a paid community where the value is the conversation, it’s hard to beat.

Pricing. Professional $89 a month with 3 admins and 10 moderators, 2% transaction fee. Business $199 a month with 5 admins and 15 moderators, 1%. Circle Plus is custom at 0.5%. Members are unlimited. Trial is 14 days with no card. Annual prices aren’t shown on the pricing page.

The thing to price in. Email is a separate product. If your organization’s main job is getting an announcement to every member, you’re buying Circle plus the Email Hub, and the Email Hub is priced by contact count starting at $99 a month at 10,000 contacts. Work out that combined number before you compare Circle’s $89 to anything else on this page.

Bettermode

What it does well. Bettermode is the most customizable of the four. If you want the community to look and behave like part of your own product, with your own information architecture, this is the one built for that.

Pricing. Starter $399 a month or $4,788 a year, up to 10,000 members with 5 collaborators. Growth $1,500 a month or $18,000 a year, up to 25,000 members with 10 collaborators. Premium is contact sales. Trial is 14 days with no card.

One flag. The pricing page advertises a saving of up to 16% on yearly billing, but the yearly totals shown are exactly twelve times the monthly prices. We’re reporting both numbers as published rather than deciding which is right. Ask them.

Where it stops being the right fit. $399 a month is $4,788 a year before anyone has paid a dollar in dues. For a company with a community budget that’s normal. For a volunteer run organization it’s usually more than the entire annual software line.

Kannect

Kannect is our product. It’s a community engagement platform for membership organizations: chambers, booster clubs, support groups, PTAs, alumni chapters, nonprofits, civic groups and clubs. Staffed or volunteer-run, and it’s the only one of the four built around membership rather than around content.

Memberships, properly. One membership type with multiple pricing tiers on every plan, or multiple membership types each with their own tiers on the higher plans. Custom application forms, manual or automatic approval, and a welcome flow that drops a new member straight into the conversation. Discounts and renewals are built in, so nobody’s tracking who gets the early-bird rate in a spreadsheet.

And the rest of the organization. A member directory with unlimited listings on every plan, and multiple directories side by side on the higher plans for sponsors, alumni, partners or your team. Groups and programs for chapters, committees and cohorts, each with its own conversation and analytics. A people database with statuses for member, alumni, donor, staff, parent and student, which members keep current themselves from the app. Events, broadcast email, a community website and a member app.

Plan

Monthly

Billed yearly

People

Admins

Emails/mo

Platform fee

Starter

$29

$276

500

3

5,000

2%

Launch

$69

$660

2,000

5

20,000

2%

Growth

$149

$1,428

5,000

10

50,000

1.5%

Scale

$299

$2,868

15,000

25

150,000

1%

Annual billing takes 20% off the monthly rate. Read from kannect.co/pricing, 5 September 2026.

The part that matters most day to day is reach. Every opted-in member receives every announcement. No algorithm decides who sees it, and there’s no per-contact overage bill for sending it. Payments run on Stripe. You connect your bank once, and money from events, memberships, programs and donations lands in your own account, usually within three business days. Kannect never holds your money. Registered nonprofits pay 0% Kannect fee on donations.

That’s the real split in this comparison. The other three model a member as someone who subscribed. Kannect models a member as someone who joined an organization, which means types, tiers, applications, renewals and discounts are the product rather than a payment integration bolted to a community.

A quick tour of Kannect: memberships, events, payments and announcements in one place.

Most organizations start with one job, usually events, payments or the directory, and bring the rest across as they need it. Setup is self-serve at no cost. If you’d rather we build the account for you, that’s an optional one time service starting at $150.

There’s a wider comparison in the best community engagement platforms and in community management software.

The three differences that actually decide it

1. Whether announcements reach everyone

This is the difference that matters most and the one that never appears on a feature comparison. In Kannect, every opted-in member receives every announcement. No algorithm decides who sees it, and there’s no per-contact overage bill for sending it.

The creator platforms aren’t built around that promise because their members opted into content and can be expected to come looking for it. Your members joined an organization and expect the organization to tell them things. Those are different jobs. We wrote about the underlying problem in why community engagement fails.

2. How many people can actually administer it

Creator platforms are built around one owner. Membership organizations are run by a committee that changes every year. Count the people on your board who need real access, then compare that to what each entry plan gives you: 3 hosts on Mighty, 3 admins on Circle, 5 collaborators on Bettermode, 3 admins on Kannect Starter and 5 on Launch.

The related question nobody asks during a demo is what happens at handover. If your treasurer resigns in June, how long does it take the next one to be operating? There’s more on this in our piece on onboarding.

3. Whether dues are a first class thing

All four products can take a payment. The difference is whether the product understands renewals, lapsed members, partial years, household memberships and a treasurer who needs to know who has actually paid. Creator platforms model this as a subscription, which is close enough until it isn’t.

The transaction fee is also worth doing the arithmetic on. At 2%, an organization collecting $40,000 a year in dues and tickets pays $800 to the platform on top of the subscription and on top of the payment processor.

If you’re switching, read this first

Export before you cancel. Get your member list, payment history and event history out while your account is still live, not after.

Don’t migrate everything at once. Most organizations move one job first, usually events, payments or the member directory, and bring the rest across as they need it. That’s a lower risk path than a big bang migration in the middle of a dues cycle.

Time it to your renewal date. Switching two weeks before dues go out is how a board loses a weekend.

Tell members once, in the place they already read. A platform change is invisible to members if you handle the announcement properly and confusing if you don’t.

If you want to see the wider field rather than just these four, we compared twelve products in our roundup of the best community engagement platforms, and eleven more in community management software.
