Kanexon, Inc. and the Kannect Platform — including kannect.co, the Kannect Community Hub mobile app on iOS and Android, public community pages at web.kannect.co, the Kannect Discover network at discover.kannect.co, and the Kannect dashboard at app.kannect.co (collectively, "Kannect," "we," "our," or "us").
This page explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use any Kannect product. It complies with global privacy regulations including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and other applicable laws. If you visit Kannect from the European Union, see the Notice to EU Data Subjects below for our legal bases for processing and transfer of your data.
What we collect
We collect information you give us and information we need to run the service:
- Account information. Your name, email, organization name, and the role you sign up as. Payment details are handled by Stripe and never stored by Kannect.
- Community data you create. Events, members, messages, resources, campaigns, and pages your organization adds to Kannect.
- Usage information. Device, browser, IP address, and page activity. We use this to keep the service working and to improve it.
- Communication data. Support requests, messages, and emails you send us.
- Location data. Approximate geolocation from your IP address, for regional compliance and service customization.
- Cookies. Small files in your browser used for sign-in, preferences, and basic analytics. See our Cookie Policy.
We may use third-party services such as Google Analytics that collect and analyze this kind of information to improve the service. These providers have their own privacy policies governing how they use it.
How we use it
- To provide, maintain, and improve every Kannect product.
- To authenticate users, prevent fraud, and stop bots and scammers from reaching the network.
- To respond to inquiries and support requests.
- To analyze how people use Kannect and inform future features.
- To send product updates and marketing communications, but only if you opt in. You can opt out at any time.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
How we share it
Kannect does not sell your data or your members' data. We share it only when necessary to operate the service, comply with the law, or in connection with a business change.
- Trusted subprocessors. Cloud hosting (Amazon Web Services), email delivery, analytics, customer support tools, and payment processing through Stripe. They are bound by confidentiality and used only to deliver Kannect to you. A current subprocessor list is available on request.
- Your members, by your choice. When you publish an event or send an announcement, the content goes to the members you choose, not anyone else.
- Kannect Discover. If your organization opts into Kannect Discover, your public-facing organization profile and selected events become discoverable to people on the network. Member data is never published on Discover.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose personal information if required by law, subpoena, regulation, or other legal process. We push back on overbroad requests.
- Business transfers. If Kannect is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale, your data may be transferred to the successor. We'll notify you, and the successor is bound by this policy or a comparable one.
Who owns the community data
Your organization is the data controller for your community: your members, your events, your messages, your content. Kannect is the processor. To get a copy of your data, email hello@kannect.co — we deliver within 30 days (or sooner per the requirements of your country's compliance laws). Self-serve export from the dashboard is on the roadmap but not yet available. If you cancel your account, your data is removed on the schedule described in our Data Deletion Policy.
Data security
We take the protection of your data seriously. Kannect runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS), a leading cloud provider with robust physical and network security controls. AWS maintains certifications including SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR compliance, providing a secure foundation for the services we build on it.
On top of AWS's infrastructure protections, we implement encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access controls, network monitoring, and administrative safeguards. Access to personal data is restricted to trained personnel who require it to operate or support the service, and who are bound by confidentiality obligations.
No method of online transmission or storage is 100% secure, so please use strong passwords and keep your account credentials confidential. Report any security concern to hello@kannect.co.
International data transfers
Kannect is headquartered in the United States. Your data may be transferred to, stored, or processed in the United States or other countries where our subprocessors operate. We use Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission for EU transfers, and only work with providers that meet strict data security and privacy standards. By using Kannect, you consent to the transfer of your data to the United States and other jurisdictions as described in this policy.
Links to other sites
Kannect may include links to third-party websites, services, or content we don't operate or control. Once you click a third-party link, their privacy practices apply — not ours. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of every website you visit.
Children's privacy
Kannect is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information without verified parental permission, we will delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has shared personal data with us, contact us at hello@kannect.co.
For organizations that work with minors — schools, youth nonprofits, PTAs — the organization is responsible for obtaining the consents their program requires before using Kannect with minors. See our Compliance Policy for FERPA and COPPA detail.
Cookies
Kannect uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, analyze usage, and improve the service. You can manage or disable cookies in your browser settings. For details, see our Cookie Policy.
Data retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes in this policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it, unless further retention is required by law.
Data deletion
You can request deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing hello@kannect.co. We will verify your identity and complete the deletion within 30 days, unless retention is legally required. You can also delete your account through the Kannect Community Hub app: Profile → Manage Kannect Account → Delete Account. Once confirmed, your account is archived immediately and permanently deleted after 30 days. See our full Data Deletion Policy for detail.
Note: Uninstalling the mobile app does not automatically delete your data. To have your data removed, submit a deletion request via email or through the app.
Your rights and choices
You have the right to access, correct, update, or delete your personal information at any time. You may also request that we limit how we use your data or object to certain types of processing.
Depending on your location (California, the EU, Brazil, and others), you may have additional rights under applicable law, including the right to data portability and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information, so the opt-out is informational.
To exercise these rights, write to hello@kannect.co. We may need to verify your identity before processing the request.
Notice to EU data subjects
For users in the European Economic Area, our legal bases for processing personal data are (a) your consent, (b) contractual necessity (running the service you signed up for), (c) compliance with legal obligations, and (d) our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving Kannect. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in technology, law, or our business. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice on the site before they take effect. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
