Create a campaign
A six step wizard. Start it, describe it, set the goal and the dates, then the form, the details and publishing.
Applies toDashboardWebsiteMobile appDiscover
Fundraising → New Campaign opens a wizard with the steps listed down the right hand side:
- Get Started
- Basic Details
- Goal amount and date
- Donation form
- Additional Details
- Publish campaign
Each step has to be saved before the next opens, and a completed step gets a tick you can go back to. Editing an existing campaign shows the same steps without Get Started.
Step 1: Get Started
Three ways in, as accordions:
- Create New Campaign. "Click the button below to publish a new campaign." Choose Create Campaign.
- Publish a campaign saved as Draft. Pick up something you started earlier.
- Duplicate from Published Campaign. Start from one you have already run, which is the right move for anything annual.
Step 2: Basic Details
- Campaign name, required.
- Campaign description, required. A full editor with bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, quotes, links, headings, lists, alignment and colour, up to 10,000 characters, with a live counter. This is the campaign page, so it is worth writing properly rather than pasting a paragraph.
- External campaign link, if the actual giving happens somewhere else. See external campaigns.
- External Button Name, the wording on the button that sends people there.
Choose Save & Next.
Step 3: Goal amount and date
- Campaign goal amount, required, in dollars. This is the number in the progress bar.
- Is this an ongoing campaign?, a tick box for an appeal with no end.
- Campaign start date and Campaign end date, both required unless the campaign is ongoing.
Choose Save & Next.
Steps 4 to 6
Donation form, Additional Details and Publish campaign finish the campaign off: what you ask a donor for, the supporting detail, and putting it live.
