Comparison

Kannect vs Breeze

The honest comparison. Breeze, now Tithely Church Management, runs the church office well. It was never built for the small group leader. Here is where each one fits.

Quick verdict

The honest take

Breeze runs the church office. Kannect runs the group that meets on Tuesday.

Breeze is easy to learn, priced as one flat number with unlimited contacts, and includes phone support. For a church office that needs membership rolls and contribution statements, that is a reasonable buy.

Its gap is small groups, and it is structural rather than a missing feature. Breeze managed small groups through tags for years, and its own help centre still titles the setup article “How to Get Started with Breeze Groups (BETA).” A leader gets a scoped view of the church database and can email or text their roster. Group members get nothing of their own.

Kannect is $276 a year against $864, and gives leaders and members a real shared space. If your church office is the problem, Breeze. If the life between Sundays is the problem, Kannect.

When to choose each

Be honest about the fit

When to choose Breeze

  • You need a church management system: membership rolls, giving records, contribution statements.
  • A non-technical volunteer has to run it, and ease of learning is the deciding factor.
  • You want children's check-in with name tag printing.
  • Free phone support matters to you. Breeze includes it, we do not.
  • You want one flat price with unlimited contacts as the church grows.

When to choose Kannect

  • Small groups and ministries are where your energy goes, not the membership roll.
  • You want group members to have their own space, not just the leader.
  • One ministry wants to start without a church-wide decision.
  • You are a smaller church and $72 a month flat is real money.
  • You want members reachable in an app they already use for their other communities.

The member app

Your people should not need an app per ministry

Someone in your congregation is also a band parent, a chamber member, and a volunteer somewhere else. Every one of those wants its own app on their phone.

One app, every community

The Kannect Community Hub app holds every organization a person belongs to. Your Sunday announcement, their small group thread, and their kid's booster club all live in the same place, so the app is one they actually keep.

Which is why the message lands

A church app installed once and never opened does not deliver your announcement. An app someone checks for four different communities does. Adoption is the whole game, and it comes from the app being useful beyond any one organization.

The deeper story

A church system serves the office. Someone has to serve the group.

Church management software is bought by the office and built for it. That is a reasonable design, and it leaves a real gap.

The leader gets a database view

A scoped roster inside the admin system, with permission to email or text it. Useful for the leader. Invisible to everyone in the group.

So the group moves to a group chat

Which is why almost every small group you know runs on a text thread and a Facebook group the church cannot see or support.

One ministry can just start

Kannect does not need a church-wide decision. A leader sets up a group this week, runs it for a season, and shows the rest of the church what it looks like.

Plenty of churches will keep their management system and add Kannect for the groups. That is a perfectly good answer, and it is usually the cheapest one.

Questions

Common questions, answered

Is Breeze still called Breeze?

Partly. Tithely acquired Breeze in 2021 and folded it into the Tithely ecosystem as Tithely Church Management in November 2025. The Breeze site and its $72 a month plan are still live, and existing customers were told their pricing stays the same.

Can we use Kannect alongside our church management system?

Yes, and many churches should. A church management system handles giving records, membership rolls, and check-in for the office. Kannect handles the weekly life of groups and ministries. They solve different problems and do not have to replace each other.

What do Breeze small group leaders get?

Breeze ran small groups through tags for years, and its own help centre still labels the newer Groups module as beta. Leaders get access to a scoped roster inside the admin system and can email or text their group. There is no member-facing group space, and group members do not get their own view.

What does Kannect cost?

Plans start at $23/mo billed yearly, or $29/mo month to month. Every plan includes a 7-day free trial, and a credit card is required to start it, which keeps Kannect verified and spam-free. Nonprofit donations are processed at 0%.
