What you can do in the Directory
A tour of the Directory page: the three tabs, the columns, searching, and what each row lets you do.
The Directory is the public list of the people and organizations in your community: sponsors, partners, team members, whoever you want to showcase. It appears on your community website, so it is one of the few things you maintain in the dashboard that members and the public browse directly.
The three tabs
- Members: everybody in the directory.
- Featured Members: the ones you have starred, which you can choose to show at the top of the directory.
- Pending: listings waiting on you, with a count in the tab so you notice them.
The columns
Each row shows Name, Type, Tier, Added and Actions, and a star at the far left.
- Type is the Directory Type the listing belongs to. These are yours to create, so they match how your organization is actually arranged: Members, Board of Directors, Locations, Sponsors, Partners.
- Tier is read from the group, program or membership plan attached to the listing, and shows N/A when there is none. You do not set it on the listing directly.
- Added is when the listing was created.
Name, Type, Tier and Added are all sortable, so you can put your newest listings first or group by type.
One Directory Type can hold any number of listings, on any mix of plans, so you do not need a separate type for each membership level. Board of Directors is a type; Platinum and Gold are plans that people in it might hold.
Finding a listing
Use Search members by name above the table. For a long directory, sorting by Type first and then scanning is usually quicker than scrolling.
What each row can do
The actions menu on a row gives you:
- Edit Member: open the listing and change its details.
- Hide Member: take a listing off your public directory without deleting it. This is the one to use for a sponsor between renewals, or a listing that is not ready.
The star toggles whether a listing is featured. See featuring and hiding listings.
Adding to it
There are three ways in, including inviting people to write their own listing. See adding listings.
