Triggered emails
The emails Kannect sends on your behalf automatically, what sets each off, and how to change the wording.
These are already sending. When somebody joins, when you publish an event, when a membership renews, Kannect emails your members using these templates. Most organizations never look at them, which means the wording members see at the most important moments is wording nobody chose.
Steps
- Open Communication → Email.
- Choose the Triggered Emails tab.
- Open a category, then a template.
- Edit the Subject and the Template body.
- Use Preview to see it, then save.
The categories
| Category | What sets it off | | --- | --- | | Onboarding | Invites and application emails for new members | | Events | Sent when you publish an event | | Campaigns | Sent for new fundraising campaigns | | Resources | Sent when you publish a resource | | Announcements | Sent with new announcements | | Memberships | The membership lifecycle: renewals, receipts and status changes | | Directory | Invites for people to complete their own directory listing |
Editing a template
Each template opens with a short description of exactly when it fires, so you are never guessing. The Subject takes up to 100 characters and the body up to 1,000.
Insert Merge Field drops in the things that change per member, for example the member's name, their plan name, your organization name, a renewal date or an amount. They appear in the template as {{name}} and the like, and are replaced with real data when the email sends.
Reset Template puts Kannect's original wording back if you want to start again.
