Create a group or program
A two step form. Details and pricing first, then the application form, then Create Group.
Community → Groups → Add Group first asks which of the two you are making, then opens a two step form with the steps shown across the top: Basic Group Details and Custom Group Form. A program is the same form with Program in place of Group on every label.
Steps
- Open Community → Groups and choose Add Group.
- Choose Create a Community Group or Launch a Program.
- Fill in the details below.
- Choose Save And Next to go to the application form.
- Choose Create Group on that second step to finish. Back returns to the details.
Step one: the details
Group Name. Up to 40 characters, with a counter. Short, because it is the heading on the card and it is also the name you will have to type exactly if you ever assign people by bulk upload.
Free Group. A tick box. Ticking it greys out both pricing fields and fixes the duration at Lifetime, which is the sensible default for something free. Untick it to charge.
Group Pricing. A dollar amount, available once the group is not free.
Group Duration. Monthly, Yearly, Quarterly or Lifetime. On a paid group this is the billing frequency.
Group Description. Up to 5000 characters, in a proper editor with bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, links and lists, so you can lay out what this group actually is rather than writing one flat paragraph.
Group Benefits. One line each, up to 200 characters. Add Benefit for another, Delete to remove one. These show on the card as Benefit.
Auto Approve Group Members. Leave it off and every application waits for you in Applications. Turn it on and anyone who fills in the form is in.
Welcome Message. What a new member sees once they are in.
Group Status. Two choices while you are creating:
- Active - Available for members to choose
- Unavailable - Temporarily not available for selection
On an existing group a third appears, Deleted - Permanently deleted. That is how a group is deleted, so do not go looking for a delete button on the card.
