Groups and programs
What the Groups page shows, and the difference between a community group, a program and a membership plan.

Community → Groups opens Community Groups, described in the product as a way to "Organize your community into teams, programs, plans, clubs, or interest-based groups."
Group, program, or membership plan
Three things in Kannect look similar and are not. Kannect's own descriptions are the clearest guide:
- Community Group: "A shared hub for teams, clubs, and causes with a common mission or place." Ongoing, open ended, about belonging. A chapter, a committee, a choir.
- Program: "Perfect for structured offerings like bootcamps, initiatives, mentorships, or fellowships." It has a shape and usually an end. A twelve week course, a mentorship cohort.
- [Membership plan](/help/organizations/memberships/your-membership-plans): your paid tiers, which live under Engagement rather than here, and which carry an image, FAQs and a public page on your website.
Groups and programs share one create form and one list. The only thing that changes between them is the wording on the labels and which card button you get, Edit Group or Edit Program.
What is on the page
One card per group or program:
- The name.
- Free Group or Free Program, or the price if you charge.
- Validity, the duration, for example Lifetime.
- Fees, or N/A for a free one.
- Status, Active or Unavailable.
- Members, how many people are on it.
- Benefit, your bullet list.
- Description.
- Edit Group or Edit Program.
Steps
- Open Community → Groups.
- Choose Add Group.
- Pick Create a Community Group or Launch a Program.
- Work through the two steps. See create a group or program.
Putting people on a group
Not from this page. There are three routes, all of them elsewhere:
- The person applies themselves, from the app or your website, using the group's application form.
- You add them on their own record, on the Groups tab, with Add group. See read a person's record.
- You include a column naming the group in a bulk upload. The name in your spreadsheet has to match exactly, and the group has to exist first.
