Choose closed or public group messaging

Closed groups broadcast with private replies. Public groups are an open conversation.

This one setting decides whether a group feels like a mailing list or a group chat, and it is worth getting right before people start posting.

The two modes

  • Closed: you broadcast to everyone individually, and replies come privately back to you. Members do not see each other's replies.
  • Public: a normal group conversation where all members and your organization talk together.

Steps

  1. Open the group.
  2. Set its messaging mode to closed or public.
