Add a person
Three routes in, and the invitation email you can rewrite before it goes.
Choosing Add People does not open a form. It offers three routes, and which one you want depends on how many people you are adding and whether you want them to do the typing.
Steps
- Open Community → People.
- Choose Add People.
- Pick one of the three routes below.
Add manually
"Enter their name and email to invite them individually." Choose Add member.
Right for one person at a time, or for anyone whose details you want to be sure of.
Social Invite
"Invite your network to download Kannect and connect instantly." Choose Post & Invite.
This is for reaching people who are not on a list you hold, for example the followers of your page who have never given you an email address.
Bulk upload
"Upload your people, members, contacts, and more, from a spreadsheet." Choose Bulk upload.
Right for anything over a handful, and the only sensible route when you are moving an existing list into Kannect. See bulk upload a list.
The New Person form
Choosing Add member opens New Person, which is short by design.
Basic details
- First name
- Last name
- Org Member ID, your own reference number if you use one. Kannect gives them a Member ID of its own regardless.
- Phone Number, with a country code picker.
- Email address
- Person Status, the label this person carries in your list. The dropdown holds your existing statuses and ends with + Add a new status if none of them fit.
- Add a field, which lets you attach any of your saved fields (Address, Gender, Date of birth, Marital status, Preferred contact method, Emergency contact name, Emergency contact number, and every custom field you have created), or + Create a new custom field.
Group, Program, And Memberships, where you can put them on a group, program or membership plan right away rather than coming back later.
Then choose Save All Details.
The email that goes with it
Under the form is the invitation itself, with the note "The email below will be sent to the members. You can customize it here."
It is a real editor, not a preview, so you can rewrite it before you save. It uses merge tags such as {{name}} and {{org_name}}, which fill themselves in per person, so leave those in place.
