Admins, permissions and super admin

Add admins by email, choose exactly which sections each one can open, and hand over the super admin role.

Applies toDashboard

Team Management, from the menu under your name in the top right, is where your admins live.

Kannect's own note on the page is worth reading before anything else: "Team members are your organization's admins. They manage your community but do not receive member communications or app notifications. To experience Kannect as a member, download the Kannect mobile app and sign up with a personal email."

That catches people out. Being an admin does not make you a member, so if you want to see what your own announcements look like, you need a separate personal sign-up on the app.

The list

One row per person, with Full Name, Email ID, Role and User Status.

  • Role is Super Admin or Admin. There is one super admin, the person who created the account, and their row has no menu.
  • User Status is Active or Pending. Pending means invited and not yet accepted.

Adding someone

  1. Choose Add User.
  2. Type their Email Address.
  3. Choose Search User.

Searching by email first means an existing Kannect person is matched rather than duplicated.

A pending invite's ⋮ menu offers Resend Email, which is the answer to "they never got it".

What an admin can do

Not everything. Each admin's access is set section by section, which is the most useful and least obvious thing on this screen.

Open the ⋮ menu on an active admin and choose Edit permissions. Kannect explains it plainly: "Choose which sections this admin can access. Unchecked sections are hidden from their dashboard."

The sections, grouped as they are in the left nav:

  • Community: People, Applications, Groups
  • Engagement: Events, Resources, Memberships, Directory, Task Tracker
  • Communication: Announcements, Emails, Messages
  • Fundraising: Donations, Campaigns
  • Settings: Organization Preferences, Wallet, Subscription, Discover Website, Team Management

Tick what they need, untick the rest, and choose Save Permissions.

The rest of the row menu

  • Make super admin, to hand the top role over.
  • Disable, to suspend access without removing the person.
  • Delete, to remove them.

Steps

  1. Open the menu under your name, then Team Management.
  2. Choose Add User and search by email to invite somebody.
  3. Once they are active, open ⋮ → Edit permissions and tick only what they need.
  4. Choose Save Permissions.
